DESCRIPTION:The York College of Pennsylvania Engineering Programs will be holding their first Order of the Engineer Induction Ceremony on Wednesday evening March 30th. We’d like to invite you to join us! \nThe Order is not a membership organization; there are never any meetings to attend or dues to pay. Instead\, the Order fosters a unity of purpose and the honoring of one’s pledge lifelong. The Obligation (http://order-of-the-engineer.org/about-the-order/obligation/) is a creed similar to the oath attributed to Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.) that is generally taken by medical graduates and which sets forth an ethical code. The Obligation likewise\, contains parts of the Canon of Ethics of major engineering societies. Initiates\, as they accept it voluntarily\, pledge to uphold the standards and dignity of the engineering profession and to serve humanity by making the best use of Earth’s precious wealth. More about the Order’s history can be found at http://order-of-the-engineer.org/about-the-order/history/. \nAs part of the Ceremony initiates receive a stainless-steel ring (worn on the fifth finger of their working hand)\, a certificate\, and pocket card. We will be holding the ceremony in the Waldner Performing Arts Center (WPAC) on the main campus of York College starting with a social time with cookies and dessert bars\, starting at 5:45 and the ceremony itself will begin at 6:30 PM. \nIf you are interested in participating in the ceremony please RSVP to Dr. Scott Hamilton (shamilton@ycp.edu) that you will be attending. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Monday\, April 19\, 2021 for a membership meeting of the 2020-2021 program year for the Engineering Society of York and a tour of Keystone Kidspace. \n  \nKeystone Kidspace plans to open in the fall of 2021 in the former York Armory Building\, a Late Gothic Revival brick fortress built in 1913.  They are presently in the final stages of construction\, mixing new amenities with much of the original components of the 1913 Armory. The Keystone Kidspace will offer a mash-up of science\, technology and arts giving kids (ages 6-15) permission to get messy\, tinker\, experiment and create.  (Boy\, this sounds like they are creating Engineers!)  We welcome you to learn more about Keystone Kidspace. \n  \nParking:  At the Small’s Athletic Field parking lot off of Hamilton Avenue \nEnter at the Hamilton Street Entrance \n  \nDue to the ongoing restrictions associated with gatherings and COVID-19\, registration will be capped at a total of 25 people for this event.  While this event is FREE to all members and guests\, we will NOT be gathering for our social event after the meeting and dinner will NOT be offered. \n  \nRemember to bring your mask and observe social distancing recommendations at all times. \n  \nPlease RSVP by close of business Thursday\, April 15 to Jon Seitz
