We had a very informative September meeting as we toured the new Pumping Station at Lake Redman. The program started with a review of the infrastructure that supports York Water Company’s operations at Lake Redman, Lake Williams, Brillhart Station and the Susquehanna River/Long Level back up pump works. We learned about the levels of redundancy that guarantee our water supply here in York as well as the future plans to maintain a safe and secure water supply. We toured the pumping station where 700 HP pumps distribute water from the lake to the filtration plant located at Reservoir Park on Grantley Road and were treated to the employees of the York Water Company utilizing the high pressure compressed air connection on the Lake Redman intake pipe filter screen to clear the screen…and drown any local kayakers on the lake!
