We enjoyed a beautiful fall evening on our tour in October when we visited the Richard M. Nixon County Parks Wetland Mitigation site. We toured the two plus acres of wetlands which were created at the Park to replace the wetlands removed as part of the I-83 Exit 18-Mount Rose Interchange Project.
Prior to this project, the road leading to Nixon Park was periodically damaged during large flood events and had large, eroded banks. This project helped control the footprint of the stream and helped slow the waters down to reduce the movement of sediment.
Thank you to Mike Fobes, the York County Parks Director, for an informative tour!
